Patrick Fileti joins Spindle

April 7th, 2020

Spindle are delighted to introduce filmmaker, photographer and installation artist Patrick Fileti to the roster for representation in the UK and Netherlands.

With a reputation built on powerful, socially conscious filmmaking, Patrick’s heartfelt storytelling is driven by humanity, honesty and a belief that images speak to the soul of the viewer.

His ambition to create purposeful and emotionally charged work is exemplified in his recent film ‘Inferno’. Working with Cinematographer Galo Olivares (Roma), Fileti’s signature thought-provoking imagery and intimate character performances sing on the screen. Winning at Palm Springs International Shortfest, the film went on to pick up the Academy-accredited Award for Best Documentary.

Fileti’s versatility and international popularity as a director have seen him create Cannes, Clio, One Show, Effie, ACS, and Spike winning commercials for brands, and we are very excited to see his talent blossom in the UK.

Tam Tam featured in 1.4 Sustainability Showcase

March 11th, 2020

1.4 asked Amelie Lambert, fresh from the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, to highlight how filmmaking can open up our awareness with inspiring narratives. The world may be falling apart but it’s also a world of hope.

‘Tam Tam / Outside the Lines’, directed by Greg Hackett, highlights a systemic inequality, the power of community and the public’s voice well. Never underestimate the power of your own voice and actions. A sustainability expert said this “should be turned into a campaign for all the stateless children, and shown in all schools to children who don’t have this problem and who do not realise how valuable their opportunities are”.

The Coyle-Larner Brothers join Spindle

February 11th, 2020

We are delighted to announce the signing of The Coyle-Larner Brothers, siblings Ben and Ryan, with their directorial debut ‘Eugene’ for Arlo Parks.

Ben (Loyle Carner) is predominantly known for his critically acclaimed work as a musician. His involvement in his own music videos formed a natural path to directing. Originating his videos’ concepts, storyboarding ideas and collaborating throughout has produced numerous award-winning films. This multi-disciplinary approach to creative expression has taken him on a new journey behind the camera.

Making the move to direct now means he can realise his visions fully, working collaboratively alongside a creative partner who he understands inside out, his brother Ryan. Ryan grew up on the sets of Ben’s music videos, even featuring in some, which led to a passion for writing scripts and telling stories through film.

Their debut work for Arlo Parks ‘Eugene’ explores the agony, jealousy and confusion that comes to light when lines between platonic and romantic love blur, and the duo have created a delicate and honest portrayal that perfectly brings to life the tone and lyrics of the track.

Eugene is the latest single from Arlo’s new home, Transgressive Records, and is her first release of the new year following making the BBC Sound of 2020 top 10 list.

Rosco 5 win Gold at Straight 8

January 21st, 2020

Big congratulations to Rosco 5 for their Gold win at the Straight 8 Shootout.

The boys represented Spindle in the shootout with their film, For the Record, which follows Gideon’s unusual world record attempt. The shootout rules are simple but fiendishly difficult: in-camera editing on super 8, no post-production, make an original soundtrack without seeing your film, and for shootout every film gets played at the premiere, regardless of how – or whether – it came out. It’s a great event to be involved with and we look forward to the next one!
